Margaret Hiett, 69, Willow Springs, was ticketed at 3:36 p.m. May 2 on a charge of creating or maintaining a public nuisance. Assistant Chief Schwien.
Assistant Chief Schwien responded on April 26 to Apple Market for a complaint of a man harassing younger girls working there, asking sexual questions and making them uncomfortable. Schwien spoke to the manager and gathered more information with a plan to contact the offending man. The manager called him back and reported the man was still had the store, words were exchanged and the man was told to leave, but was sitting in the parking lot. Schwien responded and trespassed the man from the store. The man left.
On April 26, Assistant Chief Schwien received a call about a man walking down the street in the rain, wearing a prom dress. The caller was concerned about the man’s mental state. The officer contacted the man, who was intoxicated and said he “just wanted to look pretty and walk around.” Schwien gave him a courtesy ride home to get him out of the rain and keep from ruining his dress.
Assistant Chief Schwien was dispatched April 26 to assist emergency medical personnel with a medical call involving a woman having seizures. He spoke to the woman and she refused treatment. He and the medical personnel left. Personnel called back to report they were returning and again wanted officers there. Schwien returned and the woman was passed out at her table. She was found to be extremely intoxicated and was taken to the hospital. When she was cleared to be released, she was given a courtesy ride home.
On April 27, Officer Matthew Combs was dispatched for a commercial alarm call. The building was secured.
Officer Combs was dispatched April 27 to respond to a report of gunshots heard. He checked the area and saw and heard nothing suspicious.
On April 27, Officer Combs was dispatched to Falck Street for a commercial alarm. The building was checked and all access points were secure.
Officer First Class McGee attempted on April 27 to serve an arrest warrant, but the subject of the warrant had moved, so she was not successful.
On April 27, Officer First Class McGee tried to serve arrest warrants to a person, but they had been evicted, so she was not able to locate the person.
Officer First Class McGee arrested someone April 27 on an active municipal warrant. After being taken into custody, the person posted bond at the police station.
On April 27, a man called police to report he had hit Simmons Bank with his vehicle, then drove home. He said he had damaged his vehicle but not the building. Officer First Class McGee learned he had hit a pole next to the bank’s ATM.
Officer Combs was dispatched on April 28 for dogs running loose. The dogs’ owners were issued warnings.
On April 28, Officer First Class McGee conducted a traffic stop, resulting in a man being arrested on a felony warrant.
Officer Combs was dispatched April 29 for a well-being check. He was not able to make contact, but the subject of the check called 911 to report she was OK.
On April 29, Officer First Class McGee took a report of a noninjury traffic crash.
A dog broke loose from its chain on April 29 and was roaming loose. Officer First Class McGee placed the dog back on a makeshift chain and it stayed.
On April 29, Officer First Class McGee spoke to someone wanting information about a ride-along for Career Day with a school. The caller was told to call back in a few days to speak with the captain or assistant chief.
A man called on April 29 asking for an officer to respond to address a dog that would not stop barking. Officer First Class McGee tried to make contact with the dog’s owner, but no one was home and she heard no loud barks coming from the house. There was a small dog that barked when she knocked, but otherwise, the complaint seemed to be unfounded.
On April 29, Officer First Class McGee took a report of a noninjury traffic crash.

On April 30, Officer Alexis Johnson conducted a traffic stop, resulting in the driver being taken into custody on a charge of driving while revoked and then released.
Cpl. Guidry took a call on April 30 from a woman who said that while city workers were weed-eating near her property, a rock struck her vehicle’s windshield and cracked it.
On April 30, a person called to report someone had tried to break into his vehicle overnight. Officer Johnson took photos of the damage and a complaint form was provided. While inspecting the damage, it was determined to be old as the metal was showing and dull, not shiny as fresh damage would have been. Cpl. Guidry.
Howell County 911 reported multiple hangup calls from a location on May 1 and were not able to get an answer when they called back. Cpl. Guidry spoke to the residents of the home and everyone was safe and secure. A child had the phone in the bedroom.
On May 1, person called to report a dog was attacked by a neighbor’s dogs while the caller’s dog was on a chain the yard. The neighbor’s dog had escaped a fenced area. Cpl. Guidry provided a complaint form which would be dropped off at the police station the next day.
Reserve Officer Wardrip responded on May 1 to a domestic disturbance in which a man was believed to have taken off on foot. He spoke to a woman, who declined to press charges. She was advised of the 12-hour separation rule. Wardrip was able to contact the man and inform him of the same.
On May 1, Mayor Charry McCann went to the police station to address an animal call involving dogs from earlier in the day. She said she wanted multiple officers to meet her at a home to seize the property owner’s dogs. Reserve Officer Wardrip responded and the homeowner went into his house and released the dogs to the animal control officer. The man was issued 11 tickets for various animal-related restrictions.
Reserve Officer Wardrip stopped a vehicle on May 1, resulting in a passenger being arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
On May 1, Reserve Officer Wardrip received a call that a man and woman could be heard fighting next door to the caller. He spoke to both parties, who advised they had only argued, nothing physical had occurred. Both parties were advised of the 12-hour rule.
A log truck with hazard lights flashing broke down May 1 on North Pine Street. Reserve Officer Wardrip assisted with traffic control until the driver got the truck moving again.
On May 1, Reserve Officer Wardrip responded to a call regarding boxes in the road and cleared them.
Officer First Class McGee attempted on May 1 to conduct a well-being check on a woman who was living on West Third Street. The new owner of the house informed the officer she and her ex-husband had sold him the house and he had no idea where she had moved. The person who requested the check was advised.
On May 1, Officer First Class McGee cleared a tree limb from the road.
Officer First Class McGee responded to the municipal golf course on May 1 and found all golf cart garages had been left open, as well as the gates. All were secured.
On May 2, a man reported another man was texting him and threatening harm to him and his family. The reporting party did not want police involvement yet, as he was going to tell the other man to stop and block his number, but if things continued, he would call back to request officer assistance. On May 2, Assistant Chief Schwien followed up on a written warning to the owner of a property on Buddy Lane for a nuisance violation. After review, he determined the owner was still in violation for having an unsafe building. A ticket was issued and mailed to the owner.

On May 2, a woman called and said her pilot light on her water heater had gone out, and the warning label on the the unit said the fire department should be called. Assistant Chief Schwien contacted the fire chief to assist her.

On May 2, a woman called police to request extra patrol at her home, as her brother, a resident of Licking, had been threatening to come harm her. Lt. Trenton Roberts provided information to on-duty officers.

A woman called police on May 2 to report her wife, who does not live with her, had stolen her keys. She said otherwise, the argument was only verbal. The two were separated and one of the women went to a park to wait for a ride. Officer First Class McGee.
