Officials congratulate seven area students for earning placement on the Linn school’s spring dean’s list.
Students recognized are Deion Lee, Birch Tree; Evan Gifford, Brent Shepherd and Brayden Smith, Licking; Tanner Ripko, Mtn. View; Warren Ennis, Willow Springs; and Rowdy Brown, Winona.
To be placed on the list a full-time student must earn a semester grade point average between 3.5 and 4.0 on a four-point scale.
Samuel Chaney of Willow Springs has graduated from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., majoring in biology.
The college graduated 485 students at the end of the academic year during ceremonies on May 11. It was the largest graduating class in the school's history.
Founded in 1858, Benedictine College is a Catholic, Benedictine, residential, liberal arts college located on the bluffs above the Missouri River in Atchison.
Midway University officials recently announced the students who have been named to its dean's list for the 2024 spring semester. To be named to the list, a student must be classified as full-time and obtain a 3.60 grade point average for the semester.
There were 388 students who made the list, including Autumn Young from Koshkonong.
Midway University is a private, coeducational institution located in Woodford County and part of the greater Lexington, Ky., area.
Wesley Laughary of West Plains is one of more than 700 students who received diplomas and were recognized as Harding University graduates during the Spring 2024 commencement ceremony on May 4.
Laughary received a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics.
University President Mike Williams recognized the candidates as they were recommended by the faculty for graduation during the ceremony at the school’s Searcy, Ark., campus.
Three local students are among more than 1,300 Harding University students recognized for their academic excellence from grades achieved during the spring 2024 semester.
Kiersten Mahan of Pottersville is a junior studying communication sciences and disorders. Maggie Tackitt of West Plains is a Senior studying theatre design/production. Madison Wade of Ava is a Junior studying medical humanities. All three have been named to the dean's list.
The dean's list is published each semester by Dr. Marty Spears, University provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarship. To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher grade-point average and no incompletes.
Mary Claire Gohn, West Plains, was named to the University of Mississippi's spring 2024 honor roll lists.
Gohn, majoring in accountancy, was named to the Chancellor's Honor Roll, which is reserved for students who earn a semester GPA of 3.75-4.00.
"The remarkable students achieving Chancellor's Honor Roll are among the best and brightest at the University of Mississippi," Chancellor Glenn Boyce said. "I commend them for their hard work and dedication resulting in their outstanding academic achievements and this well-deserved recognition."
To be eligible for honor roll designation, a student must have completed at least 12 graded hours for the semester and may not be on academic probation during the semester.
The office of Central Methodist University Provost Rita Gulstad in Fayette recently announced the students included on the spring 2024 dean's list.
A total of 900 students across all campuses and online learning, including two locals, met the requirements for placement, including a grade point average of 3.50 or higher for the semester.
Local students earning placement on the list are Mark Richard Harig, Eminence, and Amanda Mary Mantel, Mtn. View.
Central Methodist University celebrated its spring 2024 commencement on May 11 in Puckett Fieldhouse on the Fayette campus. CMU alumnus Dr. David Kerr '67 gave the commencement address as a packed house of family, friends, faculty, staff and other guests celebrated the graduates.
Belinda Jolene Gilliland, of Cabool, was among those on the program for the event. Gilliland graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.
