Annual community drive yields 56 fans

Posted

On Monday, 56 fans, the result of an annual community donation drive, were donated to the Salvation Army of West Plains by Westlake Ace Hardware and customers, with aid from an anonymous donor.

The fans will be distributed by Ozark Action from its central office, 710 E. Main St. in West Plains.

Forty-six fans were purchased with customer and private donor contributions, and Westlake Ace Hardware gave an additional 10 fans.

Nationwide, funds totaling $100,000 were donated to purchase new fans, according to Salvation Army officials. Westlake customers were asked to contribute to the cause by rounding up their purchases at the register.

“The Fan Drive speaks directly to who we are as a company,” said Westlake Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Andy Schmitt. “We are truly humbled and grateful for the partnership with The Salvation Army and look forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the lives of our friends, customers and neighbors.”

Donations of new fans may be made at any time to Ozark Action; those needing fans may go to Ozark Action between 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Fans are distributed with no income qualifications and will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis.
