Children’s Ballet of the Ozarks presents Chitty, The Flying Car Ballet

Join the Children’s Ballet of the Ozarks for a non-traditional, original ballet, Chitty, the Flying Car! A magical production for the whole family.

After buying a car that he names Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, an eccentric inventor turns a broken down Grand Prix car into a fancy vehicle for his children. The car acquires magical powers and they go off on a magical fantasy adventure to save their grandfather in a far-off land.

Chitty, the Flying Car Ballet, is based on the popular musical film, released in 1968, that was based on the children’s book written by James Bond writer and creator Ian Fleming.

Children’s Ballet of the Ozarks has studios in Cabool and West Plains. Students from West Plains, Mountain Grove, Mountain View, Willow Springs, Houston, and other communities are part of this production. CBO is pleased to include the American Ballet theatre National Training Program Curriculum, a program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development, and offers a wide variety of fine arts instruction for ages 2 years to adult, beginning to pre-professional levels, with a year-round, complete program of ballet, pre-ballet, pointe, pas de deux, contemporary, jazz, lyrical, creative, modern, tap, musical theatre, martial arts, and taekwondo. Students are trained in a pleasant, nurturing environment with professionally qualified instructors.

Malai Copling, director and founder, has been dancing since the age of two. She was awarded many dance scholarships for college, majoring in ballet at the University of Utah.

A myriad of accolades and principal roles followed. Malai has been accepted into many top dance programs throughout her career, including American Ballet Theatre (ABT). She has successfully completed the ABT Teacher Training Intensive in pre-primary through level 3 for the ABT National Training Curriculum. She has been teaching ballet, tap, and jazz for over 30 years, and has been the successful owner of several dance studios. When she and her family moved to Missouri, she brought with her a passion for teaching dance and a desire to bring a quality program to the Ozarks. Malai has trained thousands of students in

the art of dance. She enjoys watching her students grow and progress in their professionalism, grace, and in life! Malai has been married for over twenty-five years, and enjoys raising twelve children together with her husband, Troy Copling.
