The Rural Missouri Coop published a tribute in November 2022 to our own KWPM (Keep West Plains Moving) radio station, “Family-owned radio celebrates 75 years in the Ozarks.” Robert Neathery, the original owner, grew up in West Plains, graduated from college and returned home to open the first appliance store here, selling and repairing radios. The Coop reports he filed an application for a license with the FCC and KWPM hit the airwaves on July 15, 1947.
