Dear Readers,

By now, I'm sure many of you have read the announcement that the Quill's parent company, Phillips Media Group, has been sold to Carpenter Media Group. It's a big change, and I completely understand if this news has stirred up some concerns among our loyal readers. Change is... well, let's just say it can be tricky. If you're anything like me, you might find change downright hard at times. It's natural to feel a bit unsettled when something familiar shifts, especially when it comes to something as integral to our community as the West Plains Daily Quill.

But here's where I want to offer some reassurance: This change in ownership will not impact the quality or quantity of the local news you’ve come to rely on from the Quill. We are as committed as ever to bringing you the stories, updates, and insights that matter most to our community.

Trust me when I say I’ve done my homework on Carpenter Media Group. I've looked into their track record, and by all accounts, these folks are the real deal when it comes to local news. They are not just interested in the business of media — they are passionate about the role that newspapers play in connecting communities, fostering informed dialogue, and preserving the rich fabric of local life.

Carpenter Media Group seems to share the same values that have driven the Quill for years: a deep commitment to journalism, a respect for the importance of local news, and an understanding of how crucial it is to keep our readers informed, engaged, and connected. They’ve shown, time and time again, that they are in it for the long haul — investing in their newspapers and ensuring that each community they serve receives the attention and coverage it deserves.

So, while the name at the top may have changed, the heart of the West Plains Daily Quill remains the same. Our mission, our dedication, and our passion for serving you — the readers — will continue to guide everything we do. You can still expect the same level of reporting, the same commitment to integrity, and the same focus on the issues that impact our community.

Change, as we all know, isn’t always easy. It can be uncomfortable, even a bit scary. But it can also bring new opportunities, fresh perspectives, and unexpected growth. It’s like the seasons shifting — sometimes, it’s only when the leaves start to fall that we realize just how beautiful the trees can be.

In the words of writer C. JoyBell C., “We can't be afraid of change. You may feel very secure in the pond that you are in, but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea.” Let's embrace this new chapter with an open mind and a hopeful heart. After all, it’s not just about weathering the changes — it’s about seeing the beauty in what comes next.

Warm Regards,
Chris Herbolsheimer
