Commission meets Tuesday

The Howell County Commission has moved its usual Monday meeting to Tuesday next week, as government offices will be closed for President’s Day.

The commission will convene at 10 a.m. with a brief agenda: Accounts payable will be approved and any guests present will be recognized.

The commission typically meets each Monday and Thursday. The public is welcome.

Little Zizzers screening dates set

The West Plains R-7 School District reminds parents that screening dates will be held for incoming South Fork and West Plains preschool and kindergarten students April 10 through 12 at the West Plains Civic Center.

Preschool screenings for both schools will be held from noon to 4 p.m. April 11 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 12, by appointment. Children must be 4 years old before Aug. 1. Kindergarten screenings, for children who will be 5 before Aug. 1, will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 10 and 8 a.m. to noon April 11, also by appointment. Screenings are free to all children living within the R-7 district boundaries.

The Howell County Health Department will be onsite all three days for immunizations.

Parents wishing to schedule appointments for their children should call 417-256-6158 for West Plains Elementary School, or 417-256-2836 for South Fork Elementary School.

Richards to host screenings in late April

Richards School will hold its preschool and kindergarten screenings by appointment April 28 and 30. Screenings will be held in the school’s Early Childhood Center, 3075 Holiday Lane.

Parents may call 417-256-5239 to make appointments for their children.
