Library Book Fair aims to raise $3,500 for books, programs

Posted

A Scholastic Book Fair is underway at the West Plains Public Library, 750 W. Broadway. The sale is a fundraiser to support book purchases and youth programs, with a goal of $3,500 in sales. The in-person sale will begin at 9:30 a.m. today, and is open Saturday and Monday through Wednesday, closing at 4 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. all other days. Online sales will also benefit the library, offering a Scholastic catalog of 5,000 books; that sale will be open through July 25. To participate, visit @westplainslibrary on Facebook and follow the link posted there, or go directly to www.scholastic.com/bf/westplainspubliclibrary. Other ways to financially support the library include purchasing Friends of the Library T-shirts, or making a monetary donation through Scholastic e-wallet online. T-shirts, like the one modeled by Jaydin Cullum, center, are available in youth and adult sizes in multiple colors, and cost $8 for a youth shirt and $10 for adult. To make a cash donation online without purchasing, visit the library’s Facebook page and scroll down to the e-wallet link on the July 8 post. Regular library hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. With Cullum, who is “almost 11” and a student at Bakersfield School, are, from left Teen Librarian Scott Miller and Children’s Librarian Debbie Owens.
