MoDOT announces several area bridge projects

HURRICANE CREEK BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

Replacement construction of the Highway 19 bridge over Hurricane Creek in Shannon and Oregon counties is underway.

Construction crews are expected to complete the project by Sept. 1, weather permitting. The bridge is found between Shannon County Road 19A and Oregon County Road 430.

A temporary bypass has been constructed adjacent to the existing structure to allow the road to remain open throughout construction.

AREA HIGHWAY REDUCTIONS BEGINNING MONDAY

U.S. 160 in Oregon County will be reduced to one lane beginning Monday as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge maintenance.  

Work is expected to take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through March 13.

A part of Highway 181 in Texas County, plus U.S. 60 nearby, will be reduced to one lane with a 14-foot width restriction as MoDOT crews perform bridge maintenance.    

Work is planned to be done from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through March 13 on the section of road between Montgomery Street and Industrial Park Road in Cabool.   

From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through March 14, eastbound U.S. 60 in Howell and Texas counties will also be one lane with a 14-foot width restriction. MoDOT crews will be repairing pavement on a section of road from Howell County Road 1010 near Willow Springs to Dade Lane in Cabool

All work will be done as weather permits and work zones will be marked with signs. Driversare urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the areas.

MODOT PLANS HIGHWAY 137 BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

MoDOT has plans to replace a bridge located on Highway 137 over the BNSF Railroad and East First Street between Business U.S. 63/East Main Street and West Valley in Willow Springs.

Work to replace the bridge could begin as early as summer 2026. During construction, Highway 137 will be closed in the vicinity of the bridge for about six months, said officials. In addition, East First Street will be closed near the bridge for the complete duration of construction.

Maps, plans and other information prepared by MoDOT, or an interested agency, will be available for public inspection and copying at the MoDOT Regional Office, 3956 E. Main St., Willow Springs.

Anyone affected by the project may request that a public meeting be held in regard to the proposed improvements. Requests for a public meeting shall be in writing and must be submitted to Assistant District Engineer Jason Williams at 2675 North Main St., Sikeston, MO 63801, by March 26.
