Below are several upcoming events at Missouri State University-West Plains, many of which are open to the community. Also listed are several important dates on the university’s calendar that area residents might want to keep in mind.
Sept. 29 — The MSU-WP Jazz Ensemble presents, “Autumn Leaves” at the Smith-London Centennial Bell Tower, 6:30 p.m. The band will perform many favorite songs with some seasonal selections. There is limited seating in the amphitheater, so attendees may wish to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Oct. 6 — The MSU-WP University Community Band presents, “Concert on the Commons” at Hass-Darr, 6:30 p.m. The band will perform popular songs and some seasonal selections. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs or blankets.
Oct. 9-12, Fall Break. Classes will not meet; Offices open.
Oct. 10 — Friends of the Garnett Library Monthly Meeting and Luncheon, at Hass-Darr Hall in the Carol Silvey Student Union, noon. MSU-WP Counseling Center Program presented by Lauren Willis. Oct. 13 — Annual Bo Pace Grizzly Golf Classic at the West Plains Country Club, noon - 6 p.m. Check-in begins at 10:30 a.m. To register a team for the event, visit WP.MissouriState.edu/GrizzlyGolf or call MSU-WP Grizzly Athletics at 417-255-7975 or MSU-WP Athletic Director Rachel Peterson at 417-255-7990. The cost is $150 per player or $450 per team.
Oct. 14 — OHRC Presentation — From Archives to Ancestry: Navigating Genealogical Resources at Garnett Library, 6 - 7p.m. Presentation by Blanche McKinney, genealogical enthusiast, author, former library director, and retired teacher of 50 years. Refreshments provided.
