The University of Missouri Extension office of Howell County offers an eight-week strength training program for older adults and is taking registrations now for the next session, which begins May 29.
Classes will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Mondays and Wednesdays through Aug. 5.
The Stay Strong, Stay Healthy program is an evidenced-based course aimed at keeping participants’ bodies and minds functioning at their best. According to the designers of the program, regularly completing strengthening exercises will help build muscle and increase bone density, preventing frailty and osteoporosis.
Class size is limited and advance registration is required. To register for the class, call 417-256-2391, email howellco@missouri.edu, or drop by the extension office, 1376 Bill Virdon Blvd.
