Ozarks Healthcare neurology clinical medical assistant shares answer behind common brain myth

Posted

Brain Awareness Week is a celebration of the ongoing work to advance brain science. As Brain Awareness Week continues, Ozarks Healthcare neurology clinic medical assistant Mandee Moffis on Thursday shared the answer to a myth that residents may have heard that brains are fully developed by the age of 18.

Moffis explained, “Brain development actually continues well into adulthood. In fact, the prefrontal cortex, which is important for reasoning and decision-making, does not fully mature until we reach our mid-twenties. That’s why it’s so important to take good care of our brains as we age.”
