Ozarks Heritage Festival dates announced

Posted

The West Plains Council on the Arts this week announced a new date for the 31st annual Old-Time Music, Ozarks Heritage Festival. Traditionally held in June, the festival has moved to October 17 and 18, with organizers aiming for cooler weather and an even more vibrant experience.

Celebrating the rich music and culture of the Ozarks Highlands, this popular event — which was named by Quill readers as the 2024-25 Best Local Festival — will take place in and around the West Plains Civic Center grounds and downtown West Plains. Festivalgoers can look forward to traditional music, storytelling, artisan demonstrations and hands-on cultural activities.

The Old-Time Music, Ozarks Heritage Festival is a free public event and a cornerstone of cultural life in West Plains. It is dedicated to celebrating, preserving and passing on old-time music and folk life traditions distinctive to the Ozarks.

Organizers express deep gratitude to the many supporters who have sustained the festival over three decades, noting, “Your participation is why we continue to celebrate.”

Festival partners are the West Plains Council on the Arts, the City of West Plains and Missouri State University-West Plains. The festival receives funding from the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
