Weather-related closings announced
Ahead of several inches of snow expected to fall Tuesday, several closures have been announced. To add a school or business closure to this list, email news@westplainsdailyquill.net. The news email will be monitored through the evening and in the early morning hours.
The West Plains Daily Quill office and print shop will be closed Tuesday, but staff will be working remotely and monitoring emails. All Ozark Action locations will be closed Tuesday due to forecasted extreme cold temperatures and "the promise of significant snow beginning tomorrow morning," Housing Division Director Ed Button told the Quill.

The West Plains R-7 School Board of Education scheduled for Tuesday night has been moved to Feb. 25.
West Plains R-7 and surrounding K-8 schools will not be in session Tuesday, and all extracurricular activities are canceled. West Plains Head Start will also be closed.
Missouri State University-West Plains and Mtn. Grove Shannon Hall campuses, including offices will be closed Tuesday due to the threat of hazardous conditions. Online classes will be held and all seated classes will move to remote learning. Students should check Brightspace and their university email for further instructions. Updates will be made through university email, the university’s main social media accounts and the website, wp.missouristate.edu.
Other school districts announcing closures: Alton, Ava and Ava Head Start, Bakersfield, Cabool and Cabool Head Start, Cotter (Ark.), Couch, Dora, Eminence, Gainesville and Gainesville Head Start, His Place Christian Academy in West Plains, Houston and Houston Head Start, Koala Bear Daycare and Learning Center in Ava and Gainesville, Koshkonong, Licking and Licking Head Start, Lutie, Mammoth Spring (Ark.), Mtn. Grove and Mtn. Grove Head Start, Mtn. View-Birch Tree Liberty, Norwood, Salem (Ark.), Plainview in Ava, Skyline R-2 in Norwood, Summersville, Thayer, Thornfield, Willow Springs and Willow Springs Excel Program, and Winona.
Of those districts, the following will be using alternative methods of instruction: Ava, Couch, Mtn. Grove, Norwood and Summersville.
Southwest Baptist University’s campus in Mtn. View and Texas County Technical College in Houston are also closed Tuesday.
