West Plains FFA named 3 Star Chapter by National FFA Organization

Posted

West Plains FFA has been recognized as 3 Star chapter in the 2022 National Chapter Award Program from the National FFA Organization.

To achieve a star rating, chapters must first earn a gold rating from their state FFA organizations. Chapters earning 3 stars, the highest number awarded, are eligible to compete for National Premier Chapter Awards, which recognize the top 10 chapters in each division, and Models of Excellence Awards, which recognize the top 10 school chapters overall.

The program recognizes outstanding FFA chapters from across the country that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. These chapters improve chapter operations using national organization quality standards and a program of activities that emphasizes growing leaders, building communities and strengthening agriculture, say national officials. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership, officials add.

Chapters received star ratings during judging this summer and will be recognized at the 95th National FFA Convention & Expo, which will take place from Oct. 26 through 29 in Indianapolis, Ind..

All star-rated FFA chapters receive honors made possible by corporate sponsor John Deere.

“Feeding some 9 billion people by mid-century brings with it unprecedented challenges for today’s farmers,” said Amy Allen, manager of national corporate contributions for John Deere. “The skills and experiences learned though the National Chapter Award Program will help meet the critical needs.”

The National FFA Organization is a school-based national youth leadership development organization of more than 735,000 student members as part of 8,817 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
