Winona man dies in Jonesboro crash

A crash in Jonesboro, Ark., recently claimed the lives of a Shannon County resident and a man from Iowa.

The Iowa man, Timothy Collin Foote, 62, of West Burlington, was a passenger in a 2016 Ford Transit driven by David Lee Vanwinkle, 63, of Winona, reported Tpr. Cody Jackson with Troop C of the Arkansas State Police, Jonesboro. The vehicle was reportedly headed north on U.S. 63, traveling through Jonesboro when it met a southbound 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup truck driven by John Leroy Lewis, 58, Mtn. Home, Ark.

In cloudy and wet conditions, the two vehicles collided head-on on the northbound fog line, Jackson reported. The crash happened at 5:40 a.m. Feb. 6, according to the report.

Five others were injured, though not fatally wounded, in the crash, the report shows. All were reported to be passengers in the van: Robert Joseph Harris, 35, Greentop; David Michael Reading, Jr., 29, St. Louis; Donald Zachary Williams, 44, Maynard, Ark., Jimmy Lee McMullen, 35, Collinsville, Okla.; and Garrett William Sorrell, 34, Gamaliel.
