WP man charges dropped

Posted

Charges against a West Plains man in two separate incidents, the earlier one going back to June of 2019, have been dropped by Howell County Prosecutor Mike Hutchings, citing nolle pros, a legal term meaning “will no longer prosecute.”

One of the charges dropped against Harold E. Lee, 63, filed in June of 2019, was harassment. Court documents provided by Lee showed that charge was dismissed in October of 2019.

The other charge, filed in March of 2020, was violation of an order of protection for an adult, according to court records.

The more recent charge had been transferred to Carter County on a change of venue, court records show, and documentation provided by Lee showed the case was dismissed Nov. 24.

When a case is dismissed, records are no longer accessible to the public or news media. However, the person formerly charged with a crime may request and receive a copy of the records.
