The West Plains Middle School Chess Team took home a second place trophy from a recent tournament. From left, the quartet of Jack Casebeer, Asa McFarland, Chaz Coats and Isaac Brucker collectively earned a team score of 9.5, just two points behind first place winner Willow Springs Middle School, which had eight players: Sebastian Puher, Otto Schuette, Ayden Bennett, Wyatt Barker, Heidi Bennett, Kane Bennett, Maximus Layton and Maxson Becker. Casebeer, a sixth grader, also took home a medal for second place in individual scores. With 4 points even, he came just shy of the 4.5 score achieved by Asher Salt of Mtn. Grove.
