Mazie is a 3- to 4-year-old white-and-black Great Pyrenees mix weighing about 65 pounds. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. “She is kind of grouchy until she gets to know you, then she is your protector,” said Trish Hammen of the West Plains Regional Animal Shelter, where Mazie is currently housed. The adoption fee for cats and dogs is $50 and includes spaying or neutering and vaccinations. To learn more about Mazie or other animals available for adoption, or about volunteering, visit the shelter at 1486 BB Highway in West Plains between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays or call 417-256-8438.
