Norwood man fatally injured in crash with tree

A 22-year-old Norwood man suffered fatal injuries when his pickup truck struck a tree at 8 p.m. Wednesday on Y Highway, about 3.4 miles southeast of Hartville in Wright County.

Cpl. J.R. Sellars with Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Willow Springs, reported the man was driving a northbound 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 ran off the left side of the road on a curve. The driver overcorrected, and the pickup truck ran off the right side of the highway before colliding with a tree.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at 9:34 p.m. at the scene by Wright County Coroner Ben Hurtt.

This marks the 25th traffic fatality for the year in the nine-county Troop G area, compared to 27 at this time in 2025.
