The West Plains Regional Animal Shelter is currently home to three huskies between a year and 2 years old. Two are males and the one shown at left is a female, a little younger than the males, said shelter volunteer Trish Hammen. All three will be neutered or spayed and given current vaccinations before adoption. At right, Pandora and Pablo are just two of eight puppies born at the shelter born May 1, held by two of the shelter’s youngest volunteers, Natalie, left, and Keigan, Hammen’s grandchildren. The puppies’ mother is a black shepherd mix, Hammen noted. The fee to adopt a dog is $50 and includes the cost of required spaying/neutering and shots. Visit the shelter at 1486 BB Highway between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays to meet the dogs and check out the new shelter building. Donations continue to be accepted for the building fund for finishing touches on the interior and to replace old animal equipment, said Happen, adding a thanks to those who have donated so far.
