The Southern Ozarks Community Orchestra will present “Spooktacular VIII,” a pair of free, family-friendly Halloween concerts in West Plains and Houston.
The first concert will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Avenue Theatre, 307 Washington Ave. in West Plains. The orchestra will perform again at 7 p.m. Oct. 30, at the Melba Theatre in downtown Houston.
Audience members can enjoy live orchestral music in a festive Halloween setting. Sponsored by the STARS Foundation, “Spooktacular VIII” is open to community members of all ages.
The STARS Foundation has also announced that, due to illness, its stage production of “Shrek the Musical” that was set to open Thursday at the Melba Theatre has been postponed.
The show will now run from November. 12 through 14, with curtains rising at 7 p.m. nightly. An additional 3 p.m. matinee performance will be given on Nov. 14.
Admission to both Spooktacular performances is free, and donations are welcome. Tickets to see “Shrek the Musical” are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. To reserve tickets, call 417-217-9430.
