A minor has been taken into custody and Eminence High School was placed on a hard lockdown Monday following a report of a credible firearm-related threat, Shannon County authorities reported.

In a public statement issued Monday, Shannon County Sheriff Steven Hogan said deputies responded to the school campus alongside Eminence Police Chief Justin Brumble after district administrators contacted 911 dispatchers.

Upon arrival, law enforcement personnel initiated a hard lockdown of the school facilities as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students, faculty and campus staff.

Investigators collected physical evidence at the scene, and Hogan placed an underage suspect under arrest.

The individual was transported to the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office in Eminence, and transferred to the jurisdiction of regional juvenile court authorities for processing.

Due to state confidentiality laws protecting the privacy of minors, law enforcement officials have withheld the person’s name, age and specific identifying details.

Hogan praised district leaders for their prompt notification and response to the emergency.

“We commend the Eminence School Administration for their quick thinking, decisive actions, and commitment to protecting students and staff,” Hogan said.
