The city of Alton is gearing up for a weekend of America 250 celebrations following the recent crowning of the Oregon County Patriotic Pageant winners.

The pageant, sponsored by the Alton Culture Club, was held June 20 in Alton. The club is a part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs.

Macie Anderson, daughter of Joseph and Debbie Anderson, was crowned Miss Oregon County. Miley Johnston, daughter of Daryl and Amber Johnston, was named runner-up.

Michalina Basham, daughter of Brent and Amanda Basham, won the title of Miss Liberty Bell, with Peyton Deckard, daughter of Danielle and Ryan Deckard, taking runner-up. During the event, 18 contestants ages 5 to 18 introduced themselves and spoke before a crowd of about 100 people, organizers shared. Miss Firecracker and Miss Sparkler contestants shared what the Fourth of July means to them, while Miss Liberty Bell and Miss Oregon County hopefuls presented summaries of topics pertaining to Oregon County history. All contestants were also interviewed during the afternoon by a panel of judges representing various communities within the county.
