Art Around Town winners announced

Posted

Winners for the 23rd annual Art Around Town exhibit have been chosen, organizers announce.

The annual event featured two- and three-dimensional artwork created by area elementary and middle school students in grades kindergarten through eight from 15 area school districts. Winners were announced March 24 at an awards ceremony.

The exhibit was sponsored by Missouri State University-West Plains’ University/Community Programs Department and the West Plains Council on the Arts, and held on the mezzanine at the West Plains Civic Center.

Artists from the area who juried the exhibit gave awards to the top three entries by grade and selected a Best of Show winner. That honor went to Porter Casey, a Willow Springs Middle School student who painted a landscape scene showing a bear crossing a river.
