During the month of January, students in the Willow Springs School District participated in the Fields of Dreams Uganda South Central Association (SCA) Change for Change Challenge, shared district Communications Director Jenny Hayward. “Our students raised a grand total of $1,800 from collecting change and are the winners of the SCA Challenge,” she said. The funds will support the Fields of Dreams Uganda Ekisa Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to students at partner schools in Uganda, Hayward explained. Fields of Dreams Uganda is a nonprofit that provides hope, empowerment and a future to the vulnerable children of Uganda through the vehicles of soccer and education. “Willow students will have the opportunity to connect with students at St. Kizito Primary School via Zoom calls, letter-writing and encouragement through cultural exchange opportunities, Hayward added. “The P6 & P7 students of St. Kizito were proud to wave the Willow Springs Bears flag!”
