State Sen. Bill Eigel, a Republican from St. Charles County representing the 23rd District and running for governor, will host a public meet-and-greet at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Walnut Room of the West Plains Civic Center, 110 St. Louis St.
Eigel seeks to engage area conservatives and answer questions about the Nov. 5 gubernatorial election, primaries for which will be held Aug. 6.
“Join us to hear about Bill’s plan for bold conservative leadership, draining the swamp, eliminating personal property tax, securing our elections, protecting Missouri, defending the second amendment, fighting for the sanctity of life and deporting illegals, and Making Missouri Great Again,” invite campaign representatives.
Following his stop in West Plains, Eigel and his campaign will travel to Summersville for a meet-and-greet at 190 Rogers Ave. on the Summersville square. Free barbecue will be available, and there will be a car show and live music. He will next travel to Phelps County for an event there.
Eigel is one of 15 candidates running for governor, nine of which are Republican, five Democrat and one Libertarian. He will be challenged in the August primary election by Darrell McClanahan III of Milo, Jeremy Gundel of Washburn, Robert Olson of Springfield, Jay Ashcroft of Bolivar, Mike Kehoe of Jefferson City, Chris Wright of Joplin, Darren Grant of Maryland Heights and Amber Thomsen of Hollister.
Democratic candidates are Eric Morrison, Lee’s Summit; Crystal Quade, Springfield; Sheryl Gladney, St. Charles; Hollis Laster, Normandy; and Mike Hamra, Springfield. Bill Slantz of St. Charles is running as Libertarian.
