Posted

The Howell County Commission is set to meet at 10 a.m. Monday in the conference room on the second floor of the county office building, 35 Court Square, and the first item on the agenda is to approve payroll.

Bids are due at 9 a.m. that day for two vehicles to go to the sheriff’s department. Commissioners are expected to review and consider the bids during Monday’s meeting.

At 11 a.m. a grant application conference is scheduled between commissioners and representatives of the sheriff’s office. The discussion will concern a new Department of Health and Senior Services grant.

Commissioners will approve accounts payable and recognize guests present.

The commission typically meets from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each Monday and Thursday, breaking for an hour during lunch. The public is welcome.

They are tasked with managing county-owned property including the courthouse, overseeing the county's roads and bridges, preparing the annual budget, approving expenses, applying for and approving state and federal grants for the county, and maintaining an active role in many state and federal programs and committees.
