A 93-year-old woman succumbed to injuries in a crash at 3:52 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Highways 167 and 412 in Ash Flat, Sharp County, Ark., reports the Arkansas State Police.

Ash Flat Police Lt. Jeremy Stevens, reported to Troop B of the state police, Newport, that Phyllis Thompson, 93, Cherokee Village, Ark., was a passenger in a Lincoln MKC compact crossover vehicle that was traveling north on Highway 167, driven by Mark Thompson, 67, also of Cherokee Village. The vehicle approached a traffic light at the same time as an oncoming 1999 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Matthew Melton, 30, Evening Shade, Ark., and the Lincoln failed to yield the right-of-way, attempting a left turn onto Highway 412, into the path of the pickup, Stevens reported. The front of the pickup truck then reportedly struck the passenger side of the Lincoln.

Stevens noted the weather was rainy and the road condition wet.

Injuries were reported for both drivers, who were taken to White River Medical Center in Batesville, Ark., for treatment.
