Cystic Fibrosis of West Plains raises over $21K from Benefit Buddy Bass Tournament

The Cystic Fibrosis Association of West Plains held its 37th annual Cystic Fibrosis Benefit Bass Tournament on Norfork Lake at the Norfork Lake Marina in Henderson, Arkansas, on April 9. 

Lois Frazier, of Cystic Fibrosis of West Plains, said 206 boats participated in the tournament, helping raise $21,116 for cystic fibrosis awareness and research. 

Frazer said a total of 343 fish were weighed in at the tournament, weighing approximately 798 pounds.

First place winners of the 2022 Cystic Fibrosis Benefit Bass Tournament were father and son team Rick and Jason Schmeski of Mountain Home, Arkansas. 

Rick and Jason weighed in five fish, with a total weight of 17.32 pounds. 

Frazier said the father and son team won a new Bass Cat Bobcat Boat and Trailer donated by Bass Cat Boats, out of Mountain Home, Arkansas. 

Second place winners of the Benefit Bass Tournament were Greg and Eli Cotter of Caulfield, who weighed in five fish with a total weight of 16.74 pounds. 

Eli said, “My dad is a great net man.”

Greg and Eli won $800. 

Third place winners of the Benefit Bass Tournament were Brian Crecelius and Kevin Roach of Mountain Home, Arkansas, weighing in a total of five fish with a total weight of 16.12 pounds.

Crecelius and Roach won $500.

Trey Anderson of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Eli Powers, of Yellville, Arkansas, caught the biggest bass in the tournament weighing in at 5.16 pounds. 

Frazier said they won $770.
