Donors sought for OZH, CBCO ‘Bleed Red’ blood drive

Posted

Baseball fans have an opportunity to donate blood and get rewards for participating in a blood drive hosted by Ozarks Healthcare and the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks from noon to 6 p.m. Friday in the Willard Hunter Classroom at Parkway Center, 1211 Porter Wagoner Blvd. in West Plains.

Successful donors will receive a Springfield Cardinals ‘Bleed Red’ baseball T-shirt and two free tickets to any June or July Cardinals game, excluding July 4, while supplies last.

According to the CBCO, patients across the Ozarks need blood every seven minutes.

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks donors provide all the blood for patients at Ozarks Healthcare, as well as dozens of healthcare facilities across the Ozarks.

Donors are reminded to drink plenty of water or juice the night and morning before giving blood, eat a well-balanced meal about two or three hours before donating and bring a photo ID, which is required for all donors.

To help avoid wait times, appointments are strongly encouraged. Donors can schedule an appointment at www.cbco.org/donate-blood or by calling 417-227-5006.
