Dora man flown to Springfield after late-night crash
POWER POLE COLLISION — A 45-year-old Dora man suffered serious injuries when his vehicle crashed into a utility pole at 12:10 a.m. Monday on CC Highway, 5 miles west of West Plains. Tpr. J.D. Healy with Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Willow Springs, reported the man's westbound 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, shown here, crossed the centerline, ran off the right side of the road and struck the pole after swerving to avoid an animal. Passerby Patricia Schrippe of West Plains, who provided the photo, noted another witness at the scene had called 911 after seeing at least one dog, possibly multiple, in the road. The Tahoe became entangled in power lines, prompting a road closure of about an hour while Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative crews responded to cut the power. Schrippe noted the driver was conscious and talking as emergency personnel worked to safely extract him. The man was wearing a seat belt and was flown by air ambulance to Cox South Medical Center in Springfield for treatment.
