Down Home with Sue Blueberry Cheesecake Trifle

Posted 5/14/24

As I write this, my Mother's Day is winding down, actually it's been a weekend of family, good food and remanisisting.  When your Mother is no longer with you, holidays are more important, to keep the lost alive in our thoughts and memories and one way to do that is with food. My Mom was a Mum, born and raised in England. She came to the states in her late 20's, alone, to find work. She lived through a time of war, where everything was rationed so there wasn't much for desserts but one English dish lives on with me. The English Trifle was once a basic recipe of lady fingers, pudding, cream and fruit all layered and chilled to blend the flavors. Now, there are so many ways to prepare trifles that I hope the original doesn't ever get lost. One modern version sure caught my eye so I thought I'd share it this week, in honor of my Mum and my English roots this Mother's day. I hope your Mother's Day was everything you wanted plus dessert!
