EAA Chapter 1218 to host Flying Start aviation event Saturday

Posted

Anyone with an interest in aviation is invited to attend a "Flying Start" Learn to Fly event hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1218 at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The event will be held at 810 Bryan St. in Willow Springs. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about recreational aviation, discover the steps to become a pilot, and meet local EAA members and flight instructors.

Participants will receive a free six-month EAA membership and can take a complimentary Eagle Flight provided by an EAA volunteer pilot. The program introduces people to the opportunities and fun of earning a pilot certificate, covering training requirements and providing tips on how to make learning to fly more economical, said organization officials.

The local event is being held in conjunction with EAA Learn to Fly Week, a national campaign to help aspiring pilots take flight. Leading up to today's event, the organization hosted a series of free interactive webinars earlier this week covering flight training tips, getting started and ways to save time and money.

Pre-registration is encouraged and can be completed online by visiting flyingstart.org and searching for the Willow Springs event. For more information, contact event coordinator Tom White at 417-252-0332 or tlw.white1227@gmail.com.
