Letters regarding political candidates to be voted on in the Aug. 6 primary elections must be submitted prior to 9 a.m. July 19. The July 20 issue of the West Plains Gazette will be the last date of publication of political letters to the editor, as absentee voting will begin July 23.
Letters regarding political candidates and ballot issues to be voted on during the Nov. 5 general election may resume publication beginning with the Aug. 10 Gazette.
Reminder: Letters explicitly endorsing or attacking a candidate will not be published. Writers may discuss the merits or weaknesses of a candidate objectively, using factual statements that can easily be verified, but letters stating how a reader “should” vote will be omitted.
