Fourth of July event roundup

Several area communities are holding Fourth of July events this week, beginning today.

West Plains

Berean Baptist Church will have a fish fry and fireworks show this evening beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free and the event is located at 7050 County Road 2570.

AMVETS Post 98 will host a public event beginning at 6 p.m. July 4 will fireworks at dusk. There will games for children and adults and hotdogs, hamburgers and corndogs will be served. Those attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.

Thayer

The Thayer Chamber of Commerce and E-Communications will hold a celebration from 5 p.m. July 4, concluding with a fireworks display starting at dusk at the Thayer High School football field off of Walnut Street. Admission is free and there will be games for children, food vendors, live music from Wandren and The Jumpin’ Jacks, and an Air Evac helicopter. Skydivers will put on a show at 6:30 p.m.

Willow Springs

Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce is promoting a full day of events beginning at 6 a.m. through dark. A S.W.A.T. Challenge and "I Ran From the Cops" 5K will kick off events at 6 a.m. at Palenske Field, followed by a Willow Springs Lions Club pancake breakfast at 6 a.m. Cost is $6.

Parade lineup begins at 9 a.m. at Booster Field. The parade starts at 10 and is followed by a patriotic program at Star Theater. Grand Marshal is veteran Jerry Gibbons.

From 9 a.m. to noon Ozark Sweetest Bakeshop will have cookie decorating for children from 9 a.m. to noon, cost is $15 and includes five cookies and decorating supplies.

Beginning at 11:30 Brady Walton will give a two-hour performance at Pizza Americana. From noon to 7 p.m. admission to the Willow Springs City Pool, off of Corn Avenue.

At 5 p.m. there will be free hot dogs, food vendors, entertainment, and a fireworks display beginning at dusk at the First General Baptist Church.
