As you flip through today’s edition of the West Plains Gazette, you may notice a slight difference in the number of pages and a reduction in color. This change isn’t permanent — it’s a direct result of the recent dockworker strike that impacted supply chains across the country, and we’ve felt it here in West Plains, too.
Our printing press notified us that the strike was causing delays in their ability to receive printing plates, a key component in putting together each issue of the Gazette. For those unfamiliar with the process, a black-and-white page requires just one printing plate, while each color page takes three plates. To conserve their limited supply, we made the decision to cut back on pages and color usage.
The good news is that the strike has been temporarily resolved. While this reduction will likely last for one more issue, we’re optimistic that things will soon be back to normal. We’re grateful for your understanding and continued support through these small adjustments. It’s always our priority to keep bringing you the news, and we appreciate your patience as we navigate these bumps in the road.
