Dear Readers,

Halloween is just around the corner, and I have to say, I’m beyond excited for the third annual Scare on the Square event! It’s quickly become one of my favorite things about living in West Plains, and I know I’m not alone in feeling this way. If you’ve ever had the chance to experience it, you already know why this event has become such a hit. If you haven’t, well, let me tell you — you’re in for a real treat this year!

There’s something so special about coming together as a community, especially in today’s busy world where we’re all juggling work, school, and everything in between. The fact that we have a free event like this, right in the heart of our town, is such a gift. It gives families a chance to enjoy a night of fun, laughter, and spooky thrills, all without breaking the bank. And let’s be honest, we could all use more events like that, right?

What I love most about Scare on the Square is how much joy it brings to the kids. Seeing them dressed up in their little costumes, running from booth to booth with their candy buckets, their eyes lighting up as they play games and collect treats — it’s the kind of pure, simple happiness that sticks with you. Halloween is such a magical time for children, and thanks to this event, it becomes even more special.

Not only is Scare on the Square a fantastic opportunity for kids to have a great time, but it’s also a safe and welcoming space for them to celebrate Halloween. As a parent, it should be such a relief knowing that kids can enjoy all the spooky fun without  having to worry about the usual Halloween hassles. No long car rides, no stressing over which neighborhoods are the best for trick-or-treating — it’s all right there in our own downtown! The streets are filled with familiar faces, and that sense of safety and comfort means the world to me.

I have to give a huge shout-out to everyone involved in putting this event together. From the local businesses and organizations that set up booths to the volunteers who make sure everything runs smoothly — it’s truly a community effort. Their hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed, and it’s clear that they care deeply about making Scare on the Square an unforgettable experience for everyone. We are so lucky to have such passionate people in West Plains, and I couldn’t be more thankful for all they do to bring this event to life.

So, as we get ready to celebrate this Halloween season, let’s all take a moment to appreciate how lucky we are to have Scare on the Square. It’s more than just an event — it’s a reminder of what makes West Plains such a wonderful place to live. We’re a community that looks out for each other, and that’s something truly worth celebrating.

I can’t wait to see everyone out there this year, having a blast, sharing laughs, and making memories. Happy Halloween, West Plains — let’s make this year’s Scare on the Square the best one yet!

Warm Regards,
