Fairview School District voter Reba McGinnis, left, prepares to sign in with election judges Reda Lovan and R.A. Pendergrass Tuesday morning in the school’s gymnasium. Registered voters in the Fairview district turned out to decide a $5 million bond issue to fund capital improvements, including a new gymnasium, expanded classrooms and campus-wide repairs. If approved, the measure would increase the district’s debt service property tax levy by $0.57 per $100 of assessed valuation. As of 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, roughly 60 voters had cast ballots at the precinct. In comparison, ballot tabulators at the West Plains Public Library showed 23 voters had cast ballots by 9 a.m. Watch for countywide election results to be published in print edition of the Quill and online at www.westplainsdailyquill.net.
