Monday deadline for Zizzer graduation ads

Monday at 5 p.m. is the final deadline to place advertisements in the West Plains Daily Quill’s annual graduation keepsake book.

The special section will be published Saturday, May 2, and will feature the graduating seniors of the West Plains High School Class of 2026. Family members, parents and local businesses are encouraged to show their support for the graduating seniors. To place an ad, call 417-256-9191 or email ads@westplainsdailyquill.net.

 

Town hall to focus on future of rural schools

A community town hall regarding the future of rural public education and legislative changes impacting school funding will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the West Plains Civic Center, 110 St. Louis St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The event will feature keynote speaker Duane Martin, an education advocate and attorney with EDCounsel. Discussion topics will include recent underfunding of Missouri’s State Adequacy Target, potential shortfalls for formula-funded rural schools and broader tax and policy proposals impacting school funding.

The town hall is hosted by a coalition of local districts, including Fairview R-11, Glenwood R-8, Howell Valley R-1, Junction Hill C-12, Richards R-5 and West Plains R-7. The event is open to the public, and administrators, educators and community members are encouraged to attend.

 

WPHS Jazz Band to host ‘Jazz & Java’

The West Plains High School Jazz Band will present "Jazz & Java" at 7 p.m. April 28, in the high school gymnasium. Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for adults.

 

Rabies clinics set for May 2

Mtn. View Animal Clinic will sponsor two rabies clinics on May 2.

The first clinic will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Willow Springs Booster Field parking lot. A second clinic will follow from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Mountain View Animal Clinic, 1615 County Road 2990 in Mtn. View.
