Jayna Gunter has signed a National Letter of Intent and an Athletic Scholarship agreement to attend Oklahoma Christian where she will continue her career as a Cross Country and Track and Field Athlete. Jayna talked to several schools and coaches and after much consideration decided to join the Eagles for the 2022-23 school year.

"We are super proud of Jayna for deciding to continue her running career at the collegiate level.   She has been a big leader for the Lady Zizzers over the last 4 years.  She has earned All-State Honors 2 times in Cross Country and once in track as a member of the 4X800 Relay Team.  She has been named All-Conference, All-District,  and All Sectional numerous times in cross country and track as well.  She has been an integral part of the recent Back to Back State Championship team. Jayna is a kid that we will be talking about for years to come with future Zizzer runners. Jayna is known for her hard work, consistency, and leadership skills.  These traits will serve her well as she begins her collegiate career. "  Coach Alicia Gunter

Along with being a Varsity Cross Country and Track Athlete, Jayna is also a member of Concert Choir and the Swing Set Choral Group as well as the Renaissance Choral Group.  She is also a member of National Honor Society and is serving as the Editor of the Yearbook her senior year.

Oklahoma Christian University is a 4 year private liberal arts university located in Edmond Oklahoma just outside of Oklahoma City.  They compete in the Lone Star Conference and are a NCAA Division II program.  Wade Miller, Coach of the Oklahoma Christian Eagles said  “Jayna’s strong competitive career at West Plains indicates she can be a great collegiate athlete. She also has great academics and the type of character that facilitates a strong team atmosphere and encourages growth. Our program is excited that she has chosen to join us and are looking forward to next year!”
