Healthy Blue, Motivo Health partner to expand rural behavioral health workforce

Healthy Blue and Motivo Health have partnered to expand Missouri’s behavioral health workforce by financially supporting clinical supervision for pre-licensed therapists in rural communities.

Through the initiative, Healthy Blue will provide funding for Motivo's virtual clinical supervision services. The online platform connects pre-licensed therapists with a network of qualified supervisors, removing geographic barriers for organizations in rural areas.

After completing graduate school, therapists are required to complete two years of supervised clinical experience before obtaining full licensure. Motivo's digital platform allows these required supervision hours to be completed virtually.

“Missouri has built a strong behavioral health foundation, and the opportunity in front of us now is to help build the workforce so we can broaden access to care across rural regions of the state,” said Jeff Davis, president of Healthy Blue in Missouri. Davis noted the partnership is an investment in therapists already working in rural communities, helping them reach full licensure so they can practice long-term in Missouri.

Healthy Blue serves Missouri’s Medicaid program, MO HealthNet. Across the state, community mental health centers serve as a primary entry point for mental health care, particularly for the Medicaid population.

Medicaid-serving behavioral health organizations in Missouri can visit Motivo Health online at motivohealth.com to learn more about eligibility for the financial support program.
