Carnival rides await the first wave of fairgoers to arrive Tuesday at the Heart of the Ozarks Fair on North U.S. 63 in West Plains. The fair continues through Saturday with $5 gate admission today. Gate admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12 the remainder of the fair. Children 5 and younger are admitted free of charge. The Harper and Expo buildings will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. today through Friday and 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday. At 6 p.m. today, a gospel concert will be given at the Expo building by the Punches Family and 4Calvary. All are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Carnival armbands are available for $25 each night and may be purchased at ticket booths; carnival rides are open from 6 to 11 p.m. daily. At 6 p.m. Thursday, a motocross race and exhibit will be held at the grandstand, and at 7:30 p.m. Friday, also at the grandstand, a truck pull will be held. Saturday’s grandstand show will be a demolition derby beginning at 6 p.m. Livestock shows include the Junior and Open Cattle Show and Bucket Calf Show beginning at 9 a.m. Friday and the Rabbit and Poultry Show at 9 a.m. Saturday.
