The 85th annual meeting of Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative was held May 3 at the West Plains Civic Center with 1,100 people in attendance, co-op officials announced. The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Ava Greenan, Mtn. View-Birch Tree FFA President.
Hamburgers and hotdogs with chips and drinks were available and children present enjoyed the inflatable slides and obstacle course, said officials. Peace Valley Telephone and GigFire were available to talk with members about internet services. Ozarks Healthcare offered blood pressure checks and distributed health information, and Ozark Action was available to talk about home energy savings. Sho-Me Power Cooperative and Associated Electric Cooperative had displays explaining energy efficiency and power generation.
Brady Walton, a Willow Springs native, entertained the crowd with music including many country hits and favorites.
During the meeting, committee members gave their reports, as did CEO/General Manager Dan Singletary. Those elected to the Board of Directors were Garel Montgomery, District 1; Brandon Huffman, District 2; John Plummer, District 3; and Scott Mahan, District 4.
