Minor injuries reported in rear-end crash north of WP

Keithan M. Boyd, 19, West Plains, suffered minor injuries Wednesday when his pickup truck rear-ended another vehicle, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Tpr. T.D. Pond, Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs, reported the collision happened at 2:35 p.m. on County Road 2010, a mile north of West Plains.

Boyd was driving a northbound 2004 Ford F150 when it struck the rear of a 2002 Ford F150 driven by Brady M. West, 49, also of West Plains, the report shows.

Both drivers were wearing a seat belt and Boyd was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plainsfor treatment. No injuries were reported for West.

TWO CHILDREN HURT IN 3-VEHICLE CRASH

A resident of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., was involved in a three-vehicle crash at 3:46 p.m. April 4 on Highway 142, 4 miles east of Doniphan in Ripley County.

Tpr. G.L. Meloy, Troop E, Poplar Bluff, reported an eastbound 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by John R. Payne, 42, Horseshoe Bend, struck an oncoming 2009 Chevrolet Impala driven by Caleb M. Granier, 30, Doniphan. A second eastbound vehicle, a 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Heath A. Casteel, 34, Doniphan, also struck the Impala, which was disabled on the road, Meloy reported.

Serious injuries were reported for two children: an 8-year-old boy from Doniphan who was in the Impala, and a 12-year-old girl from Doniphan who was in the Tahoe, the report shows; the patrol does not identify minors by name. The boy, who was wearing a seat belt, was flown by helicopter to Region One Health in Memphis, Tenn., for treatment, and the girl, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, Meloy added.

A second passenger in the Tahoe, Jessica M. Casteel, 34, also of Doniphan, also reportedly did not wear a seat belt and suffered serious injuries for which she was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional.

Both drivers suffered moderate injuries and were taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional, the report shows, noting Payne wore a seat belt and Casteel did not.

TEXAS CO. DRIVER HITS COW

Two vehicles struck a cow in the road at 8:45 p.m. April 3, including one driven by a Texas County resident, resulting in injuries to two women.

Tpr. K.P. Hunt with Troop I of the patrol, Rolla, reported that a southbound 2010 Subaru Impreza driven by Kathy A. Dabbs, 64, of Lenox in Dent County, struck the cow on U.S. 63 at County Road 7160, then a 2003 Toyota Corolla driven by Paul J. Foster, 64, of Houston, also headed south, was unable to avoid the cow and struck the animal and the first vehicle.

Both drivers wore their seat belts, but Foster’s passenger, Angela M. Stewart, 52, of O’Fallon, did not, Hunt reported. Stewart and Dabbs were both taken to Phelps Health in Rolla by hospital ambulances, Stewart with serious injuries and Dabbs with moderate injuries, the report shows. No injuries were reported for Foster.
