Michael Gimpel, 45, Birch Tree, was ticketed at 5:52 p.m. Dec. 22 on charges of driving without a valid license and failure to show proof of insurance.

Mindy Hilton, 43, Springfield, was ticketed at 3:23 p.m. Dec. 31 on a charge of speeding by 26-30 mph over. Officer Reinholdt.

James Chambers, 26, West Plains, was ticketed at 8:48 p.m. Dec. 31 on charges of driving while suspended or revoked and failure to show proof of insurance.

David Smith, 20, Eminence, was ticketed at 12:45 a.m. Jan. 1 on a charge of driving while suspended or revoked. Officer Johnson.

Jarhonda Weston, 37, Memphis, Tenn. was ticketed at 10:27 a.m. Jan. 1 on a charge of speeding by 31-35 mph over. Officer Combs.

William Casby, 49, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 10:04 p.m. Jan. 1 on a charge of third-degree assault.

Gary Creed, 47, Exeter, was ticketed at 8:27 p.m. Jan. 2 on a charge of speeding by 6-10 mph over. Officer Poindexter.

Rebeca McGeathy, 34, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 9:53 p.m. Jan. 4 on a charge of resisting arrest.

Silas Davis, 37, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 2:02 a.m. Friday on charges of failure to register vehicle and failure to show proof of insurance. Officer Johnson.

Noah Reese, 22, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 6:39 p.m. Saturday on a charge of speeding by 6-10 mph over. Officer Reinholdt.

Riley Carver, 18, Willow Springs, was ticketed at 10:40 p.m. Saturday on a charge of speeding by 11-15 mph over.

Douglas Wade, 23, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 10:55 p.m. Saturday on charges of driving while suspended or revoked, failure to drive on the right side of the road and driving while intoxicated, repeat offense.

CALLS FOR SERVICE

Officer Robert Poindexter was dispatched on Dec. 21 to the East James Street apartments for a disturbance. He spoke to three women who said a man was trying to force his way into their apartment. He spoke to the man who said he was looking for another man. The women were provided with complaint forms and charges will be sought.

On Dec. 21, Officer First Class Kylie McGee spoke to a woman who was taking items from a donation to a thrift store. The woman said there was a sign saying to take them.

Officer First Class McGee spoke with someone at the Texas County Sheriff’s Office on Dec. 21 regarding a stolen four-wheeler.

On Dec. 22, Officer Poindexter responded to a business alarm, and checked and secured the building.

Officer Poindexter secured the golf course gates on Dec. 22.

On Dec. 22, Officer Poindexter responded to a business alarm and found everything to be secure.

Officer First Class McGee took information on Dec. 22 for a noninjury traffic crash.

On Dec. 22, a woman visited the police station to request a crash report. As the crash happened in Birch Tree, Officer First Class McGee told the woman how she could get the report.

Sgt. Kaleb Berkshire assisted a Mercy ambulance medic on Dec. 22 with obtaining a patient’s date of birth, as family was not available.

On Dec. 22, Sgt. Berkshire conducted a well-being check.

Sgt. Berkshire distributed city council agenda packets on Dec. 22.

On Dec. 22, Lt. Trenton Roberts took information for a noninjury motor vehicle crash.

A woman contacted Lt. Roberts on Dec. 22 to ask for information about a private property crash, which he provided.

On Dec. 22, a woman sought to have a paper notarized, and Officer First Class McGee gave her information about where she could have it done.

A man visited the police station on Dec. 22 and asked if officers knew anyone who needed deer meat. Officer First Class McGee suggested he contact local churches and the nursing home.

On Dec. 22 a man went to the police station to pay fines and was told by Officer First Class McGee where to pay them.

Lt. Roberts found a vehicle parked on Dec. 23 in the alley off of Elm Street, unoccupied and not known to locals. He took information.

On Dec. 23, Lt. Roberts was dispatched to South Elm Street for a report of multiple gunshots in the area. The area was checked and gunshots were heard outside of city limits. He contacted the Howell County Sheriff’s Office.

Officer Johnson on Dec. 23 encountered someone who seemed to be having car trouble, and who said the vehicle had overheated but assistance was not needed.

On Dec. 23, Officer Johnson was dispatched to a 10-person fight at Pongo’s restaurant. When she arrived, half of the patrons had left and those remaining did not want to press charges.

Officer Johnson responded to a call regarding shots being fired on Dec. 23. She searched the area and did not hear any gunshots.

On Dec. 23, Assistant Chief Schwien was dispatched to Jackson Street for a complaint of a small dog in the road. While responding, he was informed the owner had the dog.

Officer First Class McGee gave information on Dec. 23 to a woman at the police station who wanted to know about the care center.

On Dec. 23, a woman went to the police station to show messages she’d received from a man living outside of city limits. Officer First Class McGee advised her to contact the Howell County Sheriff’s Office and file for a restraining order.

Lt. Roberts was contacted on Dec. 23 by a man wanting information about possible stolen property, and provided the information.

On Dec. 24, Lt. Roberts was dispatched to East Third Street for a noise complaint of people arguing. He heard no one arguing and the residents appeared to be sleeping.

Officer Johnson responded on Dec. 24 to a call regarding a person running around naked and saying their husband had gone into cardiac arrest. When she arrived, a man was sleeping, no one needed medical care and no one was naked.

On Dec. 24, a man went to the police station to tell officers he had found out where his stolen chainsaws were. Officer Combs informed the man that the address he gave was outside of city limits.

Officer Combs responded on Dec. 24 to a business alarm and found nothing amiss and everything secure.

On Dec. 24, Officer Johnson took a call about a broken door on the concession stand at the high school football field. She called school officials, who said they were aware.

Officer Reinholdt assisted emergency medical personnel on Dec. 24 with a patient having a possible heart attack.

On Dec. 25, Cpl. Israel Guidry conducted a traffic stop and issued a ticket on a charge of failure to stop at a top sign.

Officer Combs was dispatched Dec. 26 to assist animal control in catching goats.

On Dec. 26, Officer Combs was dispatched for a report of a deer on the road, but was unable to find the deer.

Officer Poindexter secured the golf course gates on Dec. 26.

A man stopped Officer Poindexter on Dec. 27 and asked how to pay for his tickets. The officer gave the man information.

On Dec. 27, Assistant Chief Schwien was dispatched to conduct a well-being check and everything was found to be secure.

Officer Poindexter was dispatched Dec. 27 for a deer in the road. The animal was dispatched and removed.

On Dec. 27, Officer Poindexter secured the golf course gates.

Officer Poindexter on Dec. 28 assisted a driver who was locked out of a vehicle with two small children inside by contacting a locksmith to unlock the doors.

On Dec. 28, Officer Poindexter gave a woman directions when she asked.

Assistant Chief Schwien spoke to a woman Dec. 28 at the police station who asked to speak with an officer about nude pictures being sent out of herself and her sister. She will send him all information and an investigation will follow.

On Dec. 28, a dog was reported to be at large. Sgt. Berkshire gave the owner a final warning and said that if the dog was off leash or running loose outside of a fenced area, the dog would be impounded and tickets issued.

Sgt. Berkshire reported on Dec. 28 a person called a bank asking about an account the caller was not on, and when the caller was notified he was not on the account, threatened to shoot up the bank. The responding officer went to speak with the bank president to take information, while an officer stayed with bank employees to ensure their safety.

On Dec. 28, Sgt. Berkshire conducted a well-being check and informed the subject’s husband that she was OK.

Cpl. Guidry conducted a well-being check on Dec. 28 and found the subject of the check to be admitted at Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains.

On Dec. 28, Officer Poindexter was dispatched to a call regarding a woman with chest pains. An ambulance arrived, but the woman refused medical treatment.

Officer Johnson arrested a person on Dec. 28 on a charge of domestic assault.

On Dec. 29, Cpl. Guidry responded to a domestic disturbance in progress and spoke to a man and woman. The man was taken into custody and placed on a 24-hour hold on a charge of domestic assault.

Officer Johnson on Dec. 29 encountered a semitruck parked in the middle of a road and asked the driver to move to a safer location.

On Dec. 29, Officer Johnson was dispatched for a report of two teen boys fighting at the football field. When she arrived, no one was there.

Officer Johnson pulled a dead deer off the highway on Dec. 29.

On Dec. 29, Assistant Chief Schwien was dispatched to Simmons Bank to follow up on threats made by a person.

Children’s Division staff asked on Dec. 29 for information about a resident of the city. Sgt. Berkshire made contact and found out the person actually lives in Birch Tree.

On Dec. 29, Sgt. Berkshire conducted a well-being check on a child in the Walmart parking lot; it was reported a baby was riding in the front seat on a woman’s lap.

A man asked police for a hotel voucher on Dec. 29 because he didn’t have a place to stay. Police had previous interactions with the man, including an arrest for possession of meth. Sgt. Berkshire told the man there was no voucher to be given, but gave him information about other resources available.

On Dec. 29, an intoxicated man told Sgt. Berkshire that the owner of Pongo’s, from where he had come, sent him to tell officers not to come on private property. Sgt. Berkshire told the man that was not lawful and police had been requested to be present. The man was belligerent. When the sergeant contacted the owner of Pongo’s, he was informed the man had taken it upon himself to harass an officer parked on city streets.

Assistant Chief Schwien was dispatched on Dec. 30 to meet a woman at the police station wanting information about a restraining order. He met with her and gave her information about how to get an order of protection.

On Dec. 30, Assistant Chief Schwien was dispatched to speak with a man regarding a theft and was informed that a woman had borrowed money and not paid it back. A written statement was provided.

Assistant Chief Schwien was dispatched to take a report of a missing person on Dec. 30. The reporting party said her son had been missing for a few days, having taken her car, and she hadn’t seen him since. She said should would continue trying to reach him before completing a formal report.

On Dec. 30, Assistant Chief Schwien was dispatched to Mercy St. Francis Hospital at the request of the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office who said a patient was there with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Schwien spoke with the patient who said the wound was accidental.

Officer Johnson responded on Dec. 31 to a parking lot for a suspicious vehicle parked there. It was found to be empty.

On Dec. 31, Officer Johnson conducted a traffic stop and issued tickets for lane violations and driving while revoked.

On Dec. 31, Officer Johnson stopped a vehicle and issued a ticket for failure to stop at a stop sign.

On Dec. 31, Officer Combs was dispatched to assist with helping an elderly woman who had fallen and could not get up.

Assistant Chief Schwien conducted a traffic stop on Dec. 31 that resulted in a ticket.

On Dec. 31, Officer Johnson responded to a scene where a person was having seizures. She made entry and stayed with the person until an ambulance arrived.

Officer Combs was conducting area checks on Jan. 1 and encountered a panhandler, whom he advised needed a permit.

On Jan. 1, Officer Reinholdt responded to an accidental assault involving bodily harm.

Cpl. Guidry responded on Jan. 2 to a report of a suspicious vehicle at the baseball field, but the vehicle was gone when he arrived.

On Jan. 2, Officer Poindexter secured the golf course gate.

Officer Poindexter was conducting area checks on Jan. 2 and came upon an unlocked door. The building was cleared and the door locked.

On Jan. 3, Sgt. Berkshire responded to Mercy St. Francis Hospital for an aggressive patient yelling at nurses and trying to leave after having been placed on clinical hold. He spoke to all involved and took a report.

Officer Poindexter was alerted on Jan. 3 that more property was missing related to a previously-reported theft. He took information to add to the original report.

On Jan. 3, Officer Poindexter responded to Mercy St. Francis to speak to a patient who was repeatedly causing issues.

Officer Poindexter responded Jan. 3 to a call involving a woman who called 911 and was no longer answering her phone. He arrived and found the front door ajar and the woman unconscious on the floor. She then began to have a seizure. He stayed with her until an ambulance arrived.

On Jan. 4, Officer Poindexter secured the golf course gates.

Officer Poindexter responded Jan. 4 to a residential alarm involving a basement door. He was let inside by a woman and found the building secure; the woman believed the alarm had been accidentally set off.

On Jan. 4, Sgt. Berkshire began a pursuit of a red sedan traveling west on U.S. 60 at 90 mph after an attempt to initiate a traffic stop resulted in the vehicle weaving erratically between vehicles from the center lane to the right shoulder, almost striking multiple cars. The suspect vehicle reached a speed of 101 mph and turned off onto County Road 3150, then slid off the road after an attempted left turn, colliding with a tree. Emergency medical personnel attempted to take a blood sample on the driver, who was taken to the hospital, and given a 15-day permit and ticket. A report was taken.

While on patrol Jan. 4, Cpl. Guidry spotted a woman known to have an active warrant out for her arrest and she fled. She was taken into custody and to jail.

On Jan. 4, Officer Poindexter responded to a business alarm and an employee said the business had been having issues with the alarm.

A building door was left open at the golf course on Jan. 4. Officer Poindexter checked and secured the building.

On Friday, Officer Johnson monitored a person who was being detained for driving while intoxicated.

Officer Johnson took a man into custody Jan. 5 and took him to the Howell County Jail.

Lt. Roberts was dispatched Friday to Mercy St. Francis Hospital for a vehicle sitting int he parking lot with hazard lights on, but while en route, the reporting party canceled the call, having discovered it was a hospital employee.

On Friday, Assistant Chief Schwien followed up on an investigation into theft of money from a bank account.

Assistant Chief Schwien was made aware by a concerned citizen of an animal neglect report on Friday. He spoke to the animal’s owner, and the animal in question was a dog chained to a tree in inclement, snowy, windy weather. He saw no shelter for the dog. The dog’s owner said it was taken inside throughout the day and they would get a doghouse.

Sgt. Berkshire spoke to a man Friday who said he didn’t think he had gotten his license back after a traffic stop and told the man the officer who stopped him would be contacted.

On Saturday, Officer Reinholdt responded to a complaint about a loud truck in the yard and found no vehicle in the area. He tried to contact the reporting party but got no answer.

Assistant Chief Schwien provided a funeral escort on Saturday.

On Saturday, Officer First Class McGee was conducting area checks and encountered a building owner who was picking up bags and helped her bring them into the building.

Officer Johnson stopped a vehicle on Sunday and issued a ticket.
