Richard Bateman, 45, Norton, Va., was ticketed at 4:15 a.m. March 8 on a charge of speeding by 16-19 mph over. Officer Matthew Combs.

Coral Counts, 30, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 9:08 p.m. March 8 on a charge of failure to register vehicle. Officer Alexis Johnson.

William Teubert, 39, West Plains, was ticketed at 10:50 p.m. March 10 on a charge of driving while under the influence of alcohol, prior offender, and driving while revoked. Officer Johnson.

Kirkland Craven, 23, Pelion, S.C., was ticketed at 4:54 p.m. March 14 on a seat belt violation charge. Cpl. Israel Guidry.

CALLS FOR SERVICE

Officer First Class Kylie McGee spoke with a woman on March 8 who reported she was receiving threats from a man about her children. The woman was given a complaint form to fit out, and Officer McGee spoke to the man who denied making threats.

On March 8, Officer First Class McGee gave a woman a courtesy ride to Birch Tree.

Officer First Class McGee spoke to a woman on March 8 who said a previous tenant who had moved out of a residence had destroyed and stolen property. She was given a complaint form and information was taken for a report. The form was completed and returned to the police station with photos of the damage done.

On March 9, Officer Johnson was flagged down by a woman outside of the police station. The woman said her family members were fighting and there was physical abuse. The officer checked on the family, and family members had already separated.

Lt. Trenton Roberts was dispatched on March 9 to Walmart for an animal complaint. He took information from the reporting party.

On March 9, Lt. Roberts was dispatched to Signal gas station to review video footage.

Sgt. Kaleb Berkshire responded to call regarding a verbal disturbance on March 9, and spoke with a married couple. Both parties appeared to be OK; they said they were splitting up, but there was nothing going on at the moment, the were just yelling at a child that ran out of the house to come back home. He told them if police were called back to the house, someone would be going to jail for the night, and both said they understood.

On March 9, Sgt. Berkshire responded to a home where the property owners were doing a controlled burn. They said they didn’t need assistance from the fire department, and had used a backhoe to dig a ditch to control embers and ran a water line behind it in case the fire jumped the ditch. The fire department arrived and said the same.

Officer First Class McGee responded on March 9 to a verbal disturbance between two people who were having an argument; they separated for the night.

On March 9, Officer First Class McGee conducted a traffic stop which resulted in a warning, but the driver was found to have an active warrant for arrest and was taken into custody.

While conducting area checks on March 9, Officer First Class McGee noticed a door at a local business open and close, but did not find anyone on the premises and the door appeared to be locked.

On March 10, Officer Johnson checked on a vehicle that was on the side of the road and found it had a flat tire.

Officer Johnson responded on March 10 to Walmart to take statements about a fight that had occurred.

On March 10, 911 advised Officer First Class McGee of a child running through the Walmart parking lot to give away puppies, and almost being hit by a vehicle multiple times. The officer spoke to the boy about running in the middle of the parking lot and told him to stay near his truck because people are unable to see him.

Officer Johnson responded on March 11 to a domestic disturbance in which two people were yelling at each other. Both agreed to separate.

On March 11, Officer Johnson conducted a well-being check on a person taking a nap in a vehicle. He said he was fine and did not need assistance.

Officer Johnson responded on March 11 to a residence for a call regarding suspicious circumstances. A man was at the residence, and the reporting party did not know he was supposed to be there.

On March 11, Officer Johnson took a person into custody for domestic assault; the person was released.

Officer Johnson received a call on March 11 of an intoxicated man driving. The man was detained and taken to the West Plains Jail.

On March 11, Officer Johnson conducted a check after seeing people at an abandoned building. One of the people was the property owner.

Lt. Roberts responded on March 11 to a call about a boy attacking his mother. The boy was taken into custody and the Juvenile Office was contacted.

On March 11, Lt. Roberts conducted a well-being check on a woman who was unconscious but breathing, and who has a history of seizures. She woke up and began talking. She was “extremely intoxicated” and denied emergency medical services.

Cpl. Guidry left a complaint form with a woman on March 11 following a domestic disturbance, and committed to calling when the form was complete.

On March 11, Cpl. Guidry spoke to a woman and informed her that to get a protection order, it needs to be placed through the courthouse in West Plains.

A woman inquired about a burn ordinance on March 11 and Officer Combs provided her with information.

On March 12, Lt. Roberts blocked traffic for the electric department.

An officer stopped to assist a stranded motorist on March 12, but help was not needed. The driver had a neighbor pull the vehicle home.

On March 12, Brown’s Farm & Garden reported a U-Haul truck stolen after checking to make sure it was not dropped off at a different location.

An officer noticed a fire near the fabrication building and stopped to check on it. It was a controlled burn and no assistance was needed.

On March 12, a man reported his ex-in-laws were refusing to leave. An officer spoke to them and they advised they would leave.

Cpl. Guidry responded on March 12 to Valley View Apartments for a woman who advised she did not want a man arrested but he needed to leave the property. The man was trespassed from the property and given a ride home.

On March 13, Officer Combs was dispatched to a business for a man who refused to leave as the business was closing. He spoke to the man and told him the business was closing and he would have to leave; he left.

Officer Combs was dispatched on March 13 for a report of two cars racing toward town. The vehicles were never located.

On March 13, Officer Combs was dispatched for a report of what sounded like a verbal domestic disturbance. He spoke to the reporting party, who couldn’t figure out where the disturbance was coming from. He spoke to the occupants of the room next door, who said they had been arguing but it had never gotten physical, and they were going to bed.

Assistant Chief Stetson Schwien responded to an agency assistance call on March 13 in which elderly women were “pointing things out to each other.”

On March 13, Chief Jamie Perkins spoke to a woman who said a toddler showed up in her yard. The child lived across the street and Chief Perkins made contact with the child’s mother, who had been sleeping, and returned the child home.

Cpl. Guidry took a report on March 13 of stolen plates. No suspects have been identified.

On March 13, Cpl. Guidry responded to a traffic crash. The parties involved did not want a formal report and exchanged insurance information.

Cpl. Guidry responded on March 13 to a domestic disturbance. A boy was taken into custody and taken to the police station, and juvenile services were notified.

On March 14, Officer Combs was dispatched to a call regarding a woman choking. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Officer Combs was dispatched to a verbal altercation on March 14; a person was yelling at a neighbor about their car alarm.

On March 14, Mercy St. Francis Hospital security called about a traffic collision that happened in the hospital’s parking lot, and Officer Combs advised that both parties did not want a report.

Officer Combs responded March 14 to a call regarding suspicious circumstances. It was reported someone kept turning on lights in a house that is supposed to be empty. He advised extra patrol would be provided.

On March 14, a woman reported she was attacked by a man, and Officer Combs took information for a report.

An employee with a behavioral health care facility called on March 14 and requested a well-being check on a person who had called and said they had tried to kill themselves a couple of hours prior. Officer Combs responded.

On March 14, Sgt. Berkshire spoke with a woman who called regarding an assault she reported the night before. She inquired why the man who allegedly attacked her had not been arrested and said the man does not speak English. She was advised the officer who took the report would follow up on the investigation, and she said she was afraid for her well-being and still wanted to file charges.

Cpl. Guidry conducted a well-being check on March 14, and found all parties to be in good health and care.
