A Mtn. View resident has been charged with nine felonies following allegations of sexual contact with a child younger than 12 several years ago.
Robert W. Long, 47, faces three counts of first-degree statutory sodomy, two counts each of statutory sodomy and first-degree child molestation, and one count each of first-degree rape and first-degree statutory rape.
Court records show Long was arrested and released on a $100,000 bond May 5. The investigation began in late January 2025 after a teen disclosed to a friend that they had been assaulted. A law enforcement interview was subsequently arranged in cooperation with the Missouri Children’s Division.
During the investigation, the youth identified Long as the perpetrator of multiple sexual acts that allegedly occurred when the victim was about 8 years old.
Law enforcement officers interviewed Long regarding the allegations in March 2025. After investigators confirmed the location of the alleged incidents was outside the Mountain View city limits, the case was referred to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office in April 2025.
Long is scheduled for arraignment Monday before 37th Circuit Associate Judge R. David Ray. Public records show Long is represented by Assistant Public Defender Lacon Smith of Springfield.
The case is being prosecuted by Howell County Prosecutor Mike Hutchings and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Rizwan Ahad.
