Mullins sentenced to 2 years of probation for domestic assault

Posted

A West Plains man charged about a year ago pertaining to alleged child abuse has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor fourth-degree domestic assault, first or second offense, and is sentenced to two years of unsupervised probation and a suspended imposition of sentence by 37th Judicial Associate Circuit Court Judge R. David Ray.

Eric D. Mullins, 50, has also been ordered to pay court costs related to the case, filed in February 2023. A suspended imposition of sentence means if Mullins completes probation, he won't face any jail time.

Court documents related to the guilty plea state if Mullins violates probation he could face up to a year in jail, and/or up to a $1,000 fine.

On Feb. 3, 2023, police were dispatched to a home in West Plains where Mullins reportedly had been involved in a verbal altercation with a 14-year-old that escalated, and allegedly resulted in Mullins using his forearms to choke the teen from behind.

Two other members of the household told police they went to the room where the fight happened and saw the victim's face was red as if he couldn't breathe and they pried Mullins' arms away.
