West Plains Councilman John W. “Johnny” Murrell, Jr., has put his name on the ballot for reelection.
Murrell entered his name at 8:25 a.m. on the first day of filing, Monday, and is the first candidate to enter the race. He was last elected in June 2020, filling a vacancy left by previous Councilman Cary Stewart, and his four-year term is the only one on the ballot for the April 2, 2024, general municipal election.
Filing will continue from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays at West Plains City Hall, 1910 Holiday Lane, through Dec. 26, except for Christmas Day, when the office will be closed for the holiday.
